Terms And Conditions

Terms & Conditions

Page Electrical Contractors Ltd

These Terms & Conditions apply to all quotations, estimates, bookings and electrical works carried out by Page Electrical Contractors Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) for customers (“you”, “your”).

By accepting our quotation, confirming an appointment, instructing us to carry out works, or allowing works to commence, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. Quotations & Estimates

1.1. Quotations are based on the information available to us at the time of quoting and on the assumption that the property and existing installation are reasonably accessible and suitable for the proposed works.

1.2. Unless otherwise stated, quotations are valid for 30 days from the date issued.

1.3. A quotation covers only the works and materials specifically detailed within it.

1.4. If additional work is identified or requested after the quotation has been accepted, this will be discussed with you wherever reasonably possible and may be charged in addition to the original quotation.

1.5. Where unforeseen issues are discovered once works have commenced, including concealed cables, defective wiring, inaccessible areas, damaged equipment or non-compliant existing installations, additional costs may apply.

2. Booking & Acceptance

2.1. A booking is considered confirmed once you have accepted our quotation, confirmed the appointment by email, telephone, message or other means, or otherwise instructed us to proceed.

2.2. We reserve the right to request a deposit or payment towards materials before commencing certain works.

2.3. Appointment dates and times are estimates and may occasionally be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

3. Cancellation & Rescheduling

3.1. We understand that circumstances can change. However, cancellations or significant changes to an appointment at short notice can result in costs to our business.

3.2. We require at least 72 hours’ notice for cancellation or rescheduling of booked works, wherever reasonably possible.

3.3. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 72 hours’ notice, we reserve the right to charge for reasonable costs already incurred, including:

Materials already purchased for your works;

Materials that have been cut, prepared or otherwise customised specifically for your installation;

Materials that cannot reasonably be returned to our supplier;

Specialist or non-refundable items ordered for the works;

Labour or time specifically allocated to the booking where appropriate; and

Any reasonable cancellation or administration costs directly resulting from the cancellation.

3.4. Where materials have been specially ordered, manufactured, cut to size or otherwise prepared specifically for your installation, you may remain liable for the cost of those materials even where the works are subsequently cancelled.

3.5. Cancellation of works does not automatically cancel any liability for costs already incurred by us.

3.6. We will always seek to act reasonably and will provide a breakdown of any cancellation-related charges upon request.

4. Materials

4.1. Materials are normally ordered based on the requirements of the agreed works.

4.2. Where materials have been ordered specifically for your installation, you may be responsible for their cost if the works are cancelled or substantially changed after the order has been placed.

4.3. Where possible, we will attempt to return unused standard materials to our supplier. Any supplier restocking fees, collection charges or other non-refundable costs may be passed on to you.

4.4. Materials that have been cut, modified, customised or otherwise made specific to your installation may not be returnable.

5. Additional Works

5.1. We will not normally carry out additional works outside the agreed quotation without discussing the additional cost with you.

5.2. Where immediate additional work is reasonably necessary for safety reasons or to enable the installation to be completed safely, we reserve the right to carry out such work and charge accordingly, where reasonably practicable after informing you.

5.3. Any additional works requested by you will be charged in addition to the original quotation.

6. Access & Preparation

6.1. You are responsible for providing reasonable access to the property and areas where works are to be carried out.

6.2. You should ensure that furniture, belongings and other items that may obstruct access are removed or protected before our arrival.

6.3. We will take reasonable care while carrying out works, but cannot accept responsibility for damage to items that have not been removed or adequately protected where access is required.

6.4. Where works require access to lofts, cupboards, floors, walls or other areas, you accept that some minor disturbance, drilling, cutting or making-good may be necessary.

7. Existing Electrical Installations

7.1. We are not responsible for defects, faults or non-compliance within an existing electrical installation that are unrelated to the works we have been instructed to undertake.

7.2. During the course of works, we may identify defects or issues with the existing installation. We will advise you where reasonably possible.

7.3. We cannot guarantee that an existing installation will comply with current regulations unless we have specifically been contracted to inspect, test and/or upgrade the entire installation.

7.4. Where existing wiring or equipment is found to be unsafe, defective or unsuitable, we may need to stop or alter the planned works until the issue is resolved.

8. Electrical Certificates & Documentation

8.1. Where required, appropriate electrical certification or documentation will be issued following completion and satisfactory testing of the relevant works.

8.2. Certificates relate to the electrical work undertaken by Page Electrical Contractors Ltd and do not certify unrelated existing installations or other building works.

8.3. Certificates may be withheld until outstanding invoices relating to the works have been paid, where legally permissible.

9. Payment

9.1. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due upon completion of the works and/or receipt of our invoice.

9.2. Larger projects may require staged payments or deposits, as detailed in the quotation.

9.3. We reserve the right to suspend further works where payment is overdue.

9.4. If an invoice remains unpaid, we reserve the right to recover reasonable costs associated with pursuing the outstanding payment, subject to applicable law.

9.5. Where a customer disputes an invoice, they should contact us promptly and provide details of the disputed amount.

10. Deposits

10.1. Where a deposit is required, the amount and payment terms will be stated in the quotation or booking confirmation.

10.2. Deposits may be used towards materials, labour and other costs associated with the agreed works.

10.3. Where a customer cancels after materials or other costs have been incurred, the deposit may be retained to cover those reasonable costs, subject to applicable consumer law.

11. Delays & Circumstances Outside Our Control

11.1. We will make reasonable efforts to complete works within the agreed or estimated timeframe.

11.2. We will not be liable for delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including supplier delays, unavailable materials, severe weather, access issues, unforeseen defects, other contractors, building works, utility problems or other circumstances beyond our control.

11.3. Where a delay occurs, we will endeavour to keep you informed and rearrange works as soon as reasonably possible.

12. Customer Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Providing accurate information about the property and proposed works;

Informing us of any known electrical, structural or other relevant issues;

Providing safe and reasonable access;

Ensuring any necessary permissions or consents have been obtained where these are your responsibility;

Providing access to electricity, water or other facilities reasonably required to carry out the works; and

Paying invoices in accordance with the agreed payment terms.

13. Workmanship

13.1. We will carry out electrical works with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with applicable requirements and regulations relevant to the work being undertaken.

13.2. If you believe there is an issue with our workmanship, you should notify us as soon as reasonably possible so that we have an opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, rectify the issue.

13.3. Our responsibility for workmanship does not extend to defects caused by existing installations, misuse, accidental damage, third-party works, alterations carried out by others or circumstances outside our control.

14. Making Good & Decoration

14.1. Electrical works may require drilling, chasing, cutting, lifting floorboards, accessing ceilings or walls and making openings.

14.2. Unless specifically included within the quotation, decorative finishing, plastering, painting, wallpapering and specialist making-good are not included.

14.3. We will take reasonable care to minimise disturbance but cannot guarantee that surfaces will be returned to their original decorative condition unless this has been specifically agreed.

15. Guarantee

15.1. Where a workmanship guarantee is offered, the applicable period and terms will be stated in the quotation or invoice.

15.2. Any manufacturer warranties for electrical equipment or materials are subject to the manufacturer’s own terms and conditions.

15.3. A guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, alterations by others, normal wear and tear, or defects within existing installations.

16. Safety

16.1. We reserve the right to refuse or stop work where we consider the working environment to be unsafe.

16.2. Where an electrical installation presents an immediate safety risk, we may need to isolate affected circuits or equipment.

16.3. We will explain any significant safety concerns to you and advise where remedial work is recommended.

17. Liability

17.1. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

17.2. We will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses where such liability can legally be excluded.

17.3. We are not responsible for losses caused by pre-existing defects, inaccurate information supplied by the customer, third-party works, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

18. Consumer Rights

18.1. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

18.2. Where you are a consumer, applicable consumer protection legislation will apply to the services we provide.

18.3. Where a statutory cancellation or cooling-off right applies, we will provide the required information and cancellation arrangements.

18.4. If you request that work begins during any applicable cancellation period, you may be responsible for reasonable costs relating to services already provided where permitted by law.

19. Complaints

19.1. We aim to provide a high standard of workmanship and customer service.

19.2. If you have a complaint or concern, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can investigate and attempt to resolve the matter.

19.3. We will consider complaints fairly and will endeavour to respond within a reasonable timeframe.

20. Changes to These Terms

20.1. We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

20.2. The Terms & Conditions applicable to your works will generally be those provided or made available to you at the time of quotation or booking.

21. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute arising in connection with our services will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that may apply.
